Brockport, NY – The women's lacrosse team defended the home field today against the RIT Tigers taking the 13-11 win, for the first victory of the season. The Golden Eagles are now 1-6 overall in the 2025 season.
The first quarter was a back and forth battle as RIT put a goal up on a board to start until
Alayna Foos halted the short lead just a minute later. RIT responded with three more goals to the back of the net putting them up by three scores before the Golden Eagles bounced back with two of their own.
Sarah Kilburn took the first with an assist from
Alayna Foos and
Karaline McCarthy added on to the total cutting the lead to just one score going into the second.
The second quarter was just like the first with RIT opening it up with a quick goal.
Tristan Davis took control with an unassisted score quickly after and the Tigers did the same yet again. The game slowed down until
Alayna Foos added one more in to take the team up to five, just under RIT's six going into half.
Coming back from the halftime break, the Golden Eagles took full control of the third quarter outscoring RIT 5-1.
Paige Thowe scored quick to open up the period with an assist from
Amanda Evans. Almost halfway into the third,
Tristan Davis added two more to the total with one from a free position.
Alayna Foos also added a free position shot and shortly after, the Tigers fought for their first of the third.
Karaline McCarthy finished the quarter finding the back of the net with just one second left. After trailing by one at the half, Brockport led 10-7 going into the fourth.
The Golden Eagles had a three score lead starting the last period until RIT shot one in taking the lead to two.
Alayna Foos took control shooting one in and the Tigers did the same.
Hailey Lewkovich made her first of the day assisted by
Amanda Evans, and
Sarah Kilburn did the same from a free position. With five minutes left, the Tigers fought hard to put two more in but came up just short to Brockport's 13-11 win.
Alayna Foos led the day with a total of four goals and one assist for five points.
Tristan Davis put in three for a total of three points.
Arianna Reed was in net for the Golden Eagles making a total of nine saves.
