Brockport, NY – The women's lacrosse team opened up Empire 8 conference play strong with a 17-5 victory in Oneonta against the Hartwick Hawks. The Golden Eagles are not 2-6 overall and 1-0 in conference play.
Brockport opened the scoring book early with a free position goal made by
Alayna Foos to start the day. Hartwick responded with a man-up score with an assist from Katrina Marten.
Hailey Lewkovich took back control with an unassisted man-up goal and
Karaline McCarthy added another in less than a minute late with an assist by
Tristan Davis.
Alayna Foos made her second of the day before the end of the first outscoring the Hawks 4-1.
Amanda Evans found the back of the net to start the second quarter strong with an assist from
Tristan Davis.
Jazmin Medina put the ball in for her first goal of the season and
Tristan Davis followed suit with
Karaline McCarthy coming in with the assist.
Paige Thowe shot a rocket coming from
Alayna Foos to put the Golden Eagles up 8-1 until Hartwick snuck a goal in with less than a minute left before the half.
Coming back from the halftime break, the Green and Gold dominated in the third quarter outshooting the Hawks 6-0.
Alayna Foos was up first with an unassisted score with
Karaline McCarthy taking the team to double digits with an unassisted goal.
Tristan Davis and
Amanda Evans both added in a free position goal with
Sarah Kilburn putting her first of the day into the net.
Amanda Evans kept the momentum going scoring just one more with a minute left. Brockport finished the third with an impressive 14-2 lead.
The last period was a back and forth game with Hartwick stopping the bleeding with a quick goal.
Alayna Foos did the same shortly after with an unassisted score. The Hawks had a free position opportunity making the goal and shortly after
Amanda Evans took the score up to 16 with an assist from
Karaline McCarthy. Evans wasn't finished before putting one more in the net with Hartwick doing the same to finish out the game. The Golden Eagles finished strong with the 17-5 lead.
Amanda Evans led the team in goals on the day with five for five points.
Alayna Foos also finished up with five points from four goals and one assist.
Karaline McCarthy and
Tristan Davis both added in two goals and two assists both finishing with four points.
Arianna Reed and
Makenna Cady were in goal for Brockport with Reed making a strong 10 saves and Cady adding in a save.
