Men's Lacrosse Downs Russell Sage 11-8 in Albany

Albany, NY- The Brockport men's lacrosse team erased an early deficit to defeat Russell Sage 11-8, on Saturday, April 19th. The Golden Eagles improved to 7-7 overall and 4-3 in Empire 8 contests.
 
The Gators would jump ahead early, scoring the first three goals of the contest in the first six minutes of the first period.
 
Needing some momentum entering the second period, Jack Rice would find Nate Askin for Brockport's first goal of the afternoon, cutting Sage's lead to 3-1.
 
Brockport would turn things around in the second quarter, outscoring Russell Sage 4-0. Jack Rice would find the back of the net just one minute into the second, followed by a goal from Pierson Jacobs to tie the game at 3-3.
 
Tied at 3-3 with two minutes to go, Carson Colucci would net two goals in the final two minutes to give Brockport a 5-3 edge at the halftime break. Pierson Jacobs and Jack Rice would add assists on the Colucci goals.
 
The third period would prove to be a back-and-forth affair, with each team netting three goals. Pierson Jacobs (2nd goal) and Carson Colucci (Hat Trick) would score 32 seconds apart to keep Brockport ahead 7-4.
 
Up 7-5 with 20 seconds left in the third, Hunter Riehlman would score to extend Brockport's lead to three, but Joe Johnson would net a goal for Russell Sage to cut the lead to two.
 
The Golden Eagles would run away in the fourth, outscoring the Gators 3-2. Goals in the fourth from Hunter Riehlman, Jack Rice, and Nate Askin would secure the victory for Brockport.
 
Carson Colucci and Nicolas Ange led Brockport with four ground balls each.
 
Jack Acker (W, 7-6) made eight saves across 60 minutes of action in a winning effort.
 
Jack Rice led all Golden Eagles with two assists, adding two goals in an excellent four-point afternoon.    
 
Up Next: Brockport will host Nazareth on Wednesday, April 23rd at 4 pm.
