Brockport, NY – The women's lacrosse team brought home a strong 21-12 win against the Nazareth Golden Flyers today. The Golden Eagles are now 7-8 overall on the 2025 season and 6-2 in the E8 conference. With the win, Brockport has clinched the No. 3 seed for the upcoming E8 Tournament to earn a first round home game next Tuesday.
Team Leaders –
Alayna Foos led the team in points with eight from four goals and four assists, and picked up two groundballs.
Karaline McCarthy followed closely behind with seven points from five goals and two assists, and
Sarah Kilburn also had five goals and picked up two groundballs.
Tristan Davis contributed four goals,
Paige Thowe added two goals and two groundballs, and
Hailey Lewkovich put up one goal.
Arianna Reed was in net for the Green and Gold and made nine total saves on the day and picked up two groundballs.
Game Recap – The Golden Flyers opened up the scoring book with two goals back to back. Davis halted the lead with a quick goal until Nazareth added one more for a two point lead. Thowe responded with a shot past the goalkeeper with an assist from Foos and Davis made her second of the day from a free position opportunity to tie up the game. Foos also had a free position opportunity making the shot and McCarthy also found the back of the net. Shortly after, Foos made another free position shot until Naz did the same shortening the lead. McCarthy added one more for Brockport before the end of the firt and Nazareth did the same making it a two point game.
The second quarter was back and forth action to start, with McCarthy starting it off and the Golden Flyers responded with two to attempt to close the lead until Brockport took control. Davis made two unanswered goals in a row and Kilburn found the back of the net from a free position. McCarthy kept the momentum going and Lewkovich did the same with an assist from Foos. Kilburn took another free position shot and scored taking them to a seven point lead going into the half.
Coming back from the break, Foos was given a free position shot just 30 seconds in and started the second half strong with a score. Nazareth responded with a goal until Kilburn did the same assisted by McCarthy. McCarthy made one of her own from Foos and Nazareth put up one of their own. The battle continued to be back and forth with Thowe making a free position shot, then Nazareth made a man up goal, then Kilburn made two in a row with assists from Foos and McCarthy to close out the third.
The fourth period was quiet until Nazareth made two goals in a row with just four minutes left and Foos made the last of the game for Brockport to close it out 21-12.
