Women's Lacrosse Posts Strong Win for Last Regular Season Matchup

Brockport, NY – The women's lacrosse team closed out the Empire 8 season with a 15-1 win against the Keuka College Wolves on home turf today. The Golden Eagles finished up the season 8-8 overall and 7-2 in the conference. 

Team Leaders – Amanda Evans led the team in points with six from three goals and three assists. Hailey Lewkovich also had three goals and added one assist for four points. Karaline McCarthy contributed a goal and put up three assists for four points and Sarah Kilburn put up two goals and one assist for three points. 

Emily Schiffer had a goal and two assists, Paige Thowe had two goals, Tristan Davis added one goal and one assist, and Olivia Magin and Alayna Foos tied for one goal each. 
Arianna Reed and Makenna Cady were in between the pipes for the Green and Gold and both contributed to the win with two saves each. 

Game Recap – Brockport brought the heat in the first quarter, outshooting the Wolves 7-0. Lewkovich opened the scoring book just a minute into the matchup with an assist from Davis. Lewkovich didn't stop there, adding another score this time assisted from McCarthy. McCarthy went on to assist yet another goal put up by Kilburn and Lewkovich added one more shot to the back of the net from Evans. Evans went on to make one of her own assisted by Kilburn, and Kilburn switched gears, sneaking the ball past the goalkeeper with an assist from Evans. Finishing out the quarter with a goal with just one second left was Davis taking the assist from Lewkovich. 

The Golden Eagles kept the momentum going with Evans setting the scene with a rocket straight into the net from Schiffer. Shortly after, Schiffer made one of her own, unassisted. Keuka responded with a goal to halt the shut out. Thowe put in her first of the day taking the team to double digits going into the half. 

McCarthy started hot coming back from the halftime break with an assist from Evans and shortly after, Foos put in her first shot of the day from McCarthy. Finishing out the third quarter was Thowe with an unassisted score. 

The fourth quarter reflected the third with Evans setting the scene just a couple minutes in and finishing out the game was Magin for her first of the day with an assist from Schiffer putting the team up 15-1. 

Up Next – The Green and Gold is set to host for the first round of the Empire 8 Championships on Tuesday, April 29th starting at 4pm where they will host the Utica Pioneers.
