Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

Brockport Moves on to Semifinals Following 16-2 Win Against Utica

Brockport, NY – The women's lacrosse team started post season play strong with a 16-2 win against the Utica Pioneers today on home turf. The Golden Eagles are now 9-8 overall, and 1-0 in post season play. 

Team Leaders – Hailey Lewkovich had an impressive five goal day for five points and picked up a groundball. Alayna Foos and Karaline McCarthy tied for goals with three, and assists for one, good for four points each. Sarah Kilburn also had three goals, Paige Thowe had one goal and one assist, Payton Tyszka added a goal, and Amanda Evans helped out with two assists. 

Arianna Reed was in between the pipes for the Green and Gold and made a total of three saves and picked up two groundballs. 

Game Recap – Foos started out hot with a quick goal just a minute in, kickstarting the momentum for Brockport. Lewkovich found the back of the net next and McCarthy followed suit just a minute later. Lewkovich kept it going, adding two more goals to the mix and Kilburn made a quick score from a free position opportunity. Lewkovich finished off the dominating quarter with a goal putting Brockport up 7-0. 

The second quarter was quieter than the first with Kilburn starting it off with a goal assisted by Foos. Foos went on to make her own goal which was assisted by Evans. The Pioneers found their scoring opportunity and was able to find the back of the net before the halftime break. 

Coming back from a lightning delay break, the Golden Eagles started back off strong with McCarthy sneaking the ball past the goalkeeper from a free position spot. McCarthy did the same thing again and Foos also followed suit making a successful free position shot. Thowe scored her first goal of the day with an assist from McCarthy to finish off the third quarter. 

Utica started off the fourth with a score until Kilburn came in strong and scoring. Lewkovich added in her last goal of the day with an assist from Evans and Tyszka finished off the game with her first goal of the day assisted by Thowe. 

Semifinals – The Green and Gold will move on to semifinals in the Empire 8 tournament and will be playing on Thursday, May 1st. Opponent, time, and location are still yet to be determined.
