Brockport, NY – The Brockport women's lacrosse team earned hosting rights to the first round of the Empire 8 Championships and will be facing Utica University on home turf on Tuesday, April 29
th at 3pm.
The Golden Eagles head into the matchup with an 8-8 overall record on the 2025 season and a conference record of 7-2.
Last Week Recap – The team had a 21-12 victory at Nazareth where they cliched the No. 3 seed in the conference, earning hosting rights for the first round of championships.
Alayna Foos led the team in points with eight from four goals and two assists and also picked up two groundballs.
Karaline McCarthy followed closely behind with seven points from five goals and two assists.
Sarah Kilburn also had five goals and picked up two groundballs.
Tristan Davis contributed four goals,
Paige Thowe made two goals and two groundballs, and
Hailey Lewkovich put up one goal.
Arianna Reed was in between the pipes for the day and made nine total saves and picked up two groundballs.
Team Leaders –
Alayna Foos leads the team in goals with 46 and points with 68 and also has 22 assists and picked up 14 groundballs. She is currently tied for third in career goals in program history and seventh in career points.
Karaline McCarthy currently has 30 goals on the season, leading in assists with 26, and has 56 points with 19 groundballs.
Hailey Lewkovich also has 30 goals this season with three assists and 33 points and 15 groundballs, and
Sarah Kilburn added 28 goals with three assists for 31 points and picked up 13 groundballs.
Making Saves –
Arianna Reed and
Makenna Cady have been in between the pipes this season defending the Green and Gold. Reed has a 7-8 record on the season and has led in saves with a high amount of 136 and has picked up 17 groundballs. Reed has also won an Empire 8 Goalie of the Week award this season. In her first season with the team, Cady had a total of 18 saves while picking up four groundballs.
Scouting Utica – As of right now, Utica sits at the No.6 spot in the Empire 8 Conference standings. The Pioneers are currently 7-8 overall and 4-5 in the conference. The prior matchup between Brockport and Utica back on April 12
th resulted in a 20-9 win for the Golden Eagles.
