Acker Sets Career Saves Record, MLAX Rolls Past Alfred 11-4

Brockport, NY- The Brockport men's lacrosse team picked up a statement win at home over Alfred, 11-4, on Wednesday, April 9th. The Golden Eagles improved to 5-6 overall with a 2-2 mark in Empire 8 play following the win.

Jack Acker (W, 5-5) would secure program history in the third quarter, making 10 saves on the day to set a new program record for career saves with 303. He becomes the first goalie in program history to reach the 300 career saves milestone, as he surpasses the previous saves record of 298 set by Matt Staalesen (2005-07).

Alfred would strike first at just 2:13 into the first, but Brockport would respond in a big way. The Golden Eagles would shut down Alfred for the remainder of the opening period.

Just over a minute later, Carson Colucci would bury a Jack Rice feed to tie up the game at 1-1. The Green and Gold would take a 3-1 lead into the second period, with Pierson Jacobs and Jack Rice each finding the back of the net in the opening period.

Jacob Stine would open the scoring for Brockport in the second period, connecting for an unassisted goal to extend Brockport's advantage to 4-1. The Saxons and Golden Eagles would trade goals going into halftime, with Carson Colucci scoring again for Brockport to enter halftime up 5-2.

The Brockport defense would hold Alfred to just two goals in each half, with the Golden Eagles scoring the first four goals coming out of the half. Outscoring the Saxons 3-0 in the third, Jacobs would find the back of the net for Brockport once again, followed by goals from Patrick Donahoe and Colucci's third goal of the game.

Up 8-2 entering the final frame, Nick Maslin would score just 20 seconds into the fourth to extend Brockport's lead to 9-2. Despite two Saxon tallies in the fourth, goals from Rice (2nd) and Colucci (4th) would give Brockport the 11-4 win.

Nick Maslin led all players with four caused turnovers, with Tim Hubbard and Zach Cole forcing three turnovers each.
