Sandusky, OH – On Friday night, the Golden Eagle women's volleyball team went 1-1 on opening night at the Great Lakes Cross Over. Brockport took the win, 3-2, over Manchester before falling to North Park, 3-0.
Brockport 3, Manchester 2 – Match 1 Final
The first bout of the season was highly competitive, with sets 1-3 all being decided by just two points. Brockport jumped out to s 2-0 lead after winning the first two sets, 25-23 and 26-24.
Manchester toughed out a win in the third set, 25-23, before taking the fourth by a score of 25-18. After seeing the match get tied up at 2-2, the Golden Eagles finished off the win with a 15-10 showing in the fifth.
Alexis Sison and
Alenna Williamson led the way offensively with 12 and 10 kills respectively. Sison also added four aces, six assists, and 12 digs.
Elsie Logan was effective at libero with 23 digs to lead all players in the match.
Kaitlyn Jewett set up her teammates to racking up 29 assists to go with five service aces and eight digs.
Brockport took the win in five sets to start the 2025 season 1-0 a win over Manchester University.
Brockport 0, North Park 3 – Match 2 Final
The battle against North Park University had a much different result, with NPU sweeping Brockport 3-0. The first set saw the teams battle to a 25-22 score, before the final two sets saw 25-19 finishes.
After posting a .235 hitting percentage with just 20 errors in five sets against Manchester, Brockport struggled offensively with a .092 hitting rate and 21 errors in just three sets in match two against NPU.
Alenna Williamson's nine kills were a team-high for the match, while
Lauren Emke chipped in six kills.
Kaitlyn Jewett totaled 14 assists as the setter and
Elsie Logan got down for 19 more digs as the libero.
Following the 3-0 loss to NPU, Brockport evens out at 1-1 to conclude opening day for the new season.
The Golden Eagles get right back to the action early Saturday morning for another pair of battles at the Great Lakes Cross Over. They will take on Ohio Wesleyan at 8am and Salem College at 12pm to finish out opening weekend.
