Golden Eagles Tripped Up on Friday in Oswego

Oswego, NY – The SUNY Brockport women's volleyball team dropped a pair of matches on Friday at the Oswego State Invitational. Following losses to Oswego State and Western Connecticut State, the Golden Eagles move to 5-6 overall.
 
Brockport 0, Oswego St. 3 – Match 1 Final
The hosting Lakers were able to sweep Brockport in the first matchup of the weekend invitational, 3-0. Oswego took the first set, 25-14, in convincing fashion. Brockport kept it closer in the last two sets, but ultimately fell 25-23 and 25-21.
 
The attacking duo of Alexis Sison and Alenna Williamson led the way, as both Golden Eagles finished with 11 kills. It was Kaitlyn Jewett and her 25 assists that set the hitters up on the outside.
 
Gianna Felipe came up with 10 digs defensively, with both Sison and Jewett chipping in with seven each. Williamson had the team's lone solo block in the match. Luba Butcher and Ana Parella both received credit for a block assist.
 
Brockport 0, West. Connecticut St. – Match 2 Final
The second go around of the evening resulted in another 3-0 sweep going against the Green and Gold. Western Connecticut State took the match by set scores of 25-17, 25-22, and 25-15.
 
Anna Cascapera (7), Alenna Williamson (6), and Luba Butcher (6) led the offense in kills in the match. Kaitlyn Jewett (14) and Lauryn Forand (9) held down the setter position to set up the attackers.
 
At libero, Gianna Felipe collected 13 digs to lead the group. Cascapera came up with nine digs. Ana Parella was credited with three block assists, while Regina Salazar was awarded two.
 
On Saturday the squad will look to bounce back with two more battles on the slate. The Golden Eagles will play SUNY Canton at 10am and then Pitt-Bradford at 2pm to wrap up the weekend.
