Field Hockey Downs Elmira In Empire 8 Opener, 4-0

BROCKPORT, N.Y- The Brockport Field Hockey team opened Empire 8 play with a 4-0 win over Elmira on Saturday, September 20th. The Golden Eagles improved to 4-2 overall and 1-0 in conference play following the win.

After a quiet opening 12 minutes, the Brockport offense would catch fire to close out the first period. Allison Greene would find Cassidy Pado for her second goal of the season, putting Brockport ahead 1-0. 

With a minute left in the period, Clare Devine recorded her first goal as a Golden Eagle, giving Brockport a 2-0 edge entering the 2nd period. 

Brockport would double its shots advantage in the second period, outshooting Elmira 12-0 (5 SOG). Another Golden Eagle would record their first career goal, with Emily Nestor finding the back of the net to expand the Brockport lead to 3-0 entering halftime. 

The third period would prove to be evenly matched, with both teams firing three shots in the quarter. The Green and Gold held a 2-0 penalty corner edge in the quarter, finishing with a 14-2 advantage in the contest.

Up 3-0 with 48:55 remaining, Elise Brady would round out the scoring with her team-leading third goal of the season. Brady has scored three goals in her last five outings.

Lauren Mastromarco (W, 4-1) was perfect between the pipes, making a stop across 60 scoreless minutes.

Ava Sanchez led the Golden Eagles with five shots on goal, with Clare Devine and Elise Brady leading the team with six shots on the day.
