Brockport, NY – The women's soccer team took a 0-0 draw on home turf today against the Fredonia Blue Devils. This brings the team to 4-0-3 overall in the 2025 season.
Brockport had a dominant day overall over the Blue Devils starting off with double digits in shots in the first period with 10 compared to Fredonia's six. The Golden Eagle's very own
McKenna Slate brought the heat with four out of Brockport's seven shots on goal, but Fredonia goalie Abby Szymkowiak kept the ball from sneaking in to keep the match scoreless in the opening half.
The Green and Gold started the second period on a high note with complete control over the ball for the first 12 minutes. The team had four corner kick opportunities back-to-back with another series of shots. Yet again, the squad led in shots over Fredonia with 11 (5 SOG) compared to three, but Szymkowiak did her job of defending the net for the Blue Devils.
McKenna Slate did not give up the fight, leading in shots with four overall and four on goal.
Lucy Crounse also stuck out, making three shots with two on goal, and
Amelia Breton also made three with one shot on goal. Defender
Diane Lange made her contribution with two shots and two on net.
Goalkeeper
Karissa Champion took on defending in between the pipes for the first period, making two saves for the team. Coach
Mike Idland made the switch to
Cameryn Childs for the second half, where she made one save.
Up Next – The Golden Eagles hit the road to Oneonta this weekend to face Hartwick College on Saturday, September 27
th, starting at 12pm. They will be back home early next week Wednesday, October 1
st, to host Houghton University for a 4pm start.
