Brockport, NY – The Brockport women's soccer team is set to host the Buffalo State Bengals on Saturday, September 6
th at 12pm to celebrate Girls Youth Soccer Day.
Last Weekend Recap – On Friday, August 29
th, the team opened up the 2025 season with a 1-1 tie on the road at Skidmore College and took a 3-0 win the following day against Oneonta.
At Skidmore, the Thoroughbreds opened the scoring early on with a quick goal just 11 minutes in.
Lucy Crounse responded with Brockport's first goal of the season with an assist from
Lavanya Upadhyay. The second period ended scoreless, with Brockport on top with six shots compared to Skidmore's five.
Emily McCane was in between the pipes for Brockport to start, saving two shots. After halftime,
Madeline McCrosson was substituted in to finish out the game, also putting up two saves.
The Golden Eagles finished out the opening weekend with a shutout at Oneonta, starting the first half strong with two back-to-back goals with just minutes remaining.
Amelia Breton found the back of the net for her first of the season with the connection from
Caitlin Nelson. Nelson went on to make her own goal just 40 seconds later from Breton. Brockport outshot the Red Dragons 7-5 in the second half, including a goal from
McKenna Slate with an assist from Breton.
Emily McCane took the first shift in net for the Green and Gold, making a save.
Madeline McCrosson took her part in defending with a total of three saves, and
Karissa Champion finished out the game for the team.
A Look at Buffalo State – The Bengals currently sit at 1-2 overall in the season, starting off with a strong 5-0 win against Keuka. Brockport has walked away with four wins in the last four years against Buffalo. State.
