Box Score Brockport, NY – The SUNY Brockport women's tennis team secured a dominant 7-0 shutout victory over Russell Sage at the Nest on Saturday, September 6th. The victory marks a significant bounce-back for the Golden Eagles, flipping the score after a tough 0-7 loss to Oswego in their previous match. With the win, the team now stands at 2-1 on the season.
The Golden Eagles set the tone early with a dominant performance in doubles, sweeping all three matches to secure the first point of the day.
In first doubles, Olivia Raschiatore and Cara Vasile started things off with a swift 6-0 victory.
The second doubles team of Leah Banes and Olivia Chiu took care of business, earning a 6-1 victory.
Completing the doubles sweep, the third doubles team of Kathleen Rogers and Gianna Masker defeated their opponents 6-0.
Brockport carried its momentum into singles play, completing a clean sweep to add on to the doubles sweep, sealing the 7-0 win.
In first singles action, Cara Vasile picked up her second win of the day with a 6-2, 6-3 victory.
Freshman Leah Banes continued a strong start to the season, making quick work of her opponent with a 6-0, 6-0 shutout in second singles.
Senior Olivia Chiu took home her second win of the day with a dominant 6-1, 6-1 victory in third singles.
Erin McMichael also made quick work of her opponent, leaving her scoreless with a 6-0, 6-0 shutout victory in fourth singles.
In fifth singles, Madison Ballone picked up a dominant win with a 6-0, 6-1 showing.
Closing out singles action and the final win for Brockport, freshman Gianna Masker continued her strong campaign with a 6-0, 6-0 shutout victory in sixth singles.
