Women's Basketball Cruises Past Keuka, 75-53

BROCKPORT, NY - The Brockport Women's Basketball team (7-6, 3-1 E8) earned a 22-point conference victory at Keuka College (6-6, 1-3 E8), defeating the Wolves 75-53 on Tuesday, January 13th. Brockport's advantages in the rebounding (56-52) and turnover (16-10) departments led the Golden Eagles to their seventh straight win over Keuka dating back to 2011-12 season.

Stephanie Jean-Baptiste led all scorers and thrived at the free throw line, scoring a game-high 17 points with 7-8 shooting from the charity stripe, adding two steals anf three rebounds in a strong performance. 

Brianna Carey (10 PTS, 4-8 FG) and Mandy Brink (9 PTS, 3-4 FG) showcased efficient shooting, with each adding a steal in the contest. 

13 different Golden Eagles recorded a made field goal on the evening, with the same number finishing with a rebound or better.

The Golden Eagles would begin the contest on a 12-0 run, holding Keuka scoreless for over four minutes. Following a timeout, the Wolves would recover, outscoring Brockport 8-7 to finish the first down 19-8. The Green and Gold would hold the Wolves to just 16.67% (3-18) shooting from the floor in the opening 10 minutes.

The Keuka offense would find life in the second quarter, drilling three shots from beyond the arc (3-9) and outscoring Brockport 19-16 in the period. A pair of Brianna Carey buckets late in the period would give Brockport a 35-27 lead after 20 minutes. 

Brockport would run away with the contest in the third quarter, beginning the period on a 7-0 run and outscoring Keuka 24-7. The Green and Gold caught fire from deep, fueled by three pointers from Mandy Brink, Lila Lovgren, Ava Howie, and Jackie Kozakiewicz. The Golden Eagles defense sealed the contest, allowing just three field goals (3-19) and forcing two turnovers.

The Wolves would outscore Brockport in the final 10 minutes (19-16), but the Golden Eagles would leave Keuka Park with a 75-53 victory. 

Claire Turner led the Brockport rebounding effort, snatching nine rebounds and adding four points with a steal.

Lila Lovgren was effective off the bench, scoring seven points on 60% shooting (3-5) with six rebounds and two assists.
