Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Oka’s Dominant Night Propels Brockport Past Hartwick, 81-63

BROCKPORT, NY – Behind a career-best performance from Jacob Oka, the SUNY Brockport men's basketball team secured an 81-63 victory over Hartwick College on Saturday afternoon. The Golden Eagles (8-11, 4-6 E8) utilized a massive second-half surge to pull away from the Hawks, outscoring them 48-29 in the final 20 minutes to defend home court at The Vlog.

Second Half Takeover

The first half was a back-and-forth slugfest that featured nine ties and 15 lead changes. Hartwick managed to take a slim 34-33 advantage into the locker room after a competitive opening frame. However, the Green and Gold completely shifted the momentum in the second period, shooting a blistering 48.57% from the floor.

The highlight of the night came at the 4:45 mark of the first half, when Omar White electrified the crowd with a thunderous alley-oop slam dunk off a perfectly placed delivery from Camron Dyer. While the first half remained tight, Brockport blew the game open late; the Golden Eagles' relentless transition game resulted in 20 fast-break points while their defensive recovery was elite, allowing Hartwick only five fast-break points the entire afternoon.

A major key to the second-half runaway was Brockport's sharpshooting 41.67% (5-12) effort from beyond the arc. This outside efficiency, combined with a stifling defensive perimeter that held Hartwick to a frigid 23.3% from deep on the game, allowed the Golden Eagles to seize total control.

Stars of the Night

Jacob Oka turned in one of the most efficient and dominant performances of the season. Oka dropped a career-high 31 points—more points than minutes played (30)—on a sharp 10-of-16 clip from the field. He was a force in the paint, ensuring everything went his way while drawing constant contact to finish 10-of-12 from the charity stripe. His 31-point outing stands as the highest single-game scoring total by any Golden Eagle this season. He also hauled in a game-high nine rebounds, including three on the offensive glass.

Jack Clancy provided a major spark off the bench, with all of his field goal attempts coming from beyond the arc. Clancy finished with 11 points, shooting 3-of-6 from downtown and a perfect 2-of-2 from the free-throw line, while adding two rebounds and two steals to his outing.

Camron Dyer flirted with a double-double, providing elite production on both ends of the floor. Dyer finished with 8 points and 8 rebounds while leading the defensive effort with a game-high 4 steals and dishing out 4 assists.

Omar White was a defensive maestro, recording 3 blocks and a steal. He added 9 points on 50% shooting from three-point range and secured 3 rebounds in 30 minutes of action.

Pharell Aybar was the engine of the Brockport offense, orchestrating the tempo and pace of the game all afternoon. Aybar finished with 7 points and 7 rebounds, while dishing out 3 assists. In the starting rotation, Ajani Flemming and Cameron Pownall set the tone early. Flemming tallied 8 points and 4 assists, while Pownall contributed 7 points, 6 rebounds, and 2 blocks to anchor the interior defense.

Brockport's collective effort at the line was a season highlight, as the team finished 15-of-18 (83.3%) from the free-throw line, marking one of their most efficient performances of the year.

Up Next: After a short turnaround, the Golden Eagles will look to carry this momentum into next week as they host SUNY Geneseo on Tuesday, Feb. 3. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
