Brockport, NY – Brockport freshman goalkeeper Julia Nieboer has been named the Empire 8 Field Hockey Defensive Player of the Week on Monday, November 3rd, marking her second straight weekly conference honor.

Nieboer continued her dominant freshman campaign in the cage, posting back-to-back complete-game shutouts to close out the regular season and propel the Golden Eagles through the postseason.

She kicked off her award-winning week by turning away all four shots faced to secure a 5-0 shutout victory over Nazareth in the regular-season finale. Nieboer followed that performance with another flawless outing in the first round of the Empire 8 Conference Tournament, stopping all four shots on target across 60 minutes of action to lock down a complete-game shutout in Brockport's 1-0 victory over Utica.

Nieboer and the Golden Eagles will head to Oneonta, NY to face Hartwick College in the Empire 8 Tournament Semifinals on Wednesday, November 4th, for a 2 PM start.
