ONEONTA, NY – After a hard-fought season opener that came down to the final whistle, the SUNY Brockport men's lacrosse team continues its early-season road swing this Saturday, February 21st. The Golden Eagles are set to take on Oneonta, with faceoff scheduled for 1 p.m.
E8 Defensive Player of the Week
On Monday, the Empire 8 Conference recognized the stellar play of Brockport's junior netminder, naming
Jared Kulik the Men's Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week.
The Amherst, NY native was a brick wall in the season opener against WestConn, turning away 15 shots and posting an impressive .600 save percentage. Kulik showed veteran composure under fire, recording at least three saves in every frame to keep the Green and Gold within one goal until the final horn.
Last Time Out
The Golden Eagles opened the 2026 campaign with a hard-fought road battle, ultimately falling to Western Connecticut State University, 10-9, last Saturday afternoon. Despite a late-game surge and an award-winning performance between the pipes, Brockport was unable to overcome a heavy shot discrepancy in the season's first contest.
The attack found its rhythm in the second half, as
Pierson Jacobs and
Daniel Wright each found the back of the net twice to lead the scoring effort.
Marc Zappulla facilitated the offense with a team-high two assists, while freshman
Daniel Stiles and sophomore
Patrick Donahoe notched their first goals in a Brockport uniform. The Green and Gold were incredibly efficient in transition, successfully converting on 24-of-26 clear attempts, and maintained a high shooting percentage by putting over 70% of their attempts on frame.
Scouting the Red Dragons
Oneonta enters Saturday's contest looking to rebound from a 23-7 season-opening loss to St. John Fisher. Historically, this matchup has been a "toss-up" series, with Brockport holding a 9-10 all-time record against the Red Dragons. The Golden Eagles have claimed victory in four of the last eight meetings between the two programs.
Up Next: Following the trip to Oneonta, the Golden Eagles will return to A. Huntley Parker Jr. Field for their 2026 Home Opener. Brockport will host Cortland on Saturday, February 28th, at 1 p.m.
