BROCKPORT, NY – After a pair of nail-biters on the road to open the 2026 campaign, the SUNY Brockport men's lacrosse team returns to the friendly confines of A. Huntley Parker Jr. Field. The Golden Eagles (0-2) are set for a heavyweight clash in their home opener this Saturday, February 28th, as they welcome No. 16 Cortland for a 1 p.m. faceoff.
Last Time Out
The Golden Eagles are coming off a heartbreaker in Oneonta, where a back-and-forth battle ended in a 14-13 loss. Despite trailing early, Brockport showcased immense resilience, using a four-goal surge in the third quarter to build a 13-9 lead.
Pierson Jacobs stayed hot with a hat trick, while
Michael Dowden and
Daniel Stiles each tallied four points.
Defensively,
Jared Kulik was nothing short of heroic. Under a relentless barrage of 55 shots, Kulik turned away 21 saves to keep the Green and Gold in contention until the final second, when Oneonta managed to sneak in a game-winner with just one tick remaining on the clock.
Scouting the Red Dragons
No. 16 Cortland arrives in Brockport sitting at 1-1 after a pair of nationally ranked matchups. The Red Dragons opened their season with a statement 17-10 upset over then-ranked #8 RPI. They are looking to bounce back following a 13-12 loss to #11 St. Lawrence.
Historically, the Red Dragons have had the upper hand in this matchup; the Golden Eagles are searching for their first victory over Cortland since a 10-8 win in the 2018 season. To pull off the upset, Brockport will look to carry the momentum from their efficient transition game and the high-caliber play of
Jared Kulik, who has stood tall under a heavy workload through the first two games of the season.
Up Next: Following the home opener, Brockport will hit the road again to face off against Potsdam on Saturday, March 7th. Faceoff is scheduled for 1 p.m.
