Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

Women’s Lacrosse Falls on the Road to RIT

ROCHESTER, NY – In a physical defensive battle on the road, the SUNY Brockport women's lacrosse team (0-2) dropped an 11-3 decision to the RIT Tigers (2-0) on Saturday afternoon. Despite a resilient second-half effort and a strong day in the crease from the Golden Eagle goalkeepers.
How It Happened

The Tigers dictated the pace early, utilizing a high-pressure ride and controlling the draw circle. RIT jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first period before Tristan Davis got Brockport on the board with a clinical goal. The second quarter belonged entirely to the hosts, as the Tigers outscored the Golden Eagles 5-0 to take a commanding 8-1 lead into the halftime break.

Brockport's defense adjusted in the second half, tightening up and limiting RIT to just three goals over the final 30 minutes. Karaline McCarthy led the offensive spark in the late stages, netting two goals, set up by a sharp feed from Amanda Evans. Despite outscoring RIT in the third quarter, the early deficit was too large to overcome.

Offensive Leaders: Karaline McCarthy paced the offense with two goals, while Tristan Davis added a goal and Amanda Evans recorded an assist.

Defensive Stand: Caitlin Mulvihill was a force on the defensive end, leading the team with 3 ground balls and recording 3 caused turnovers. Kaeli McCarthy also contributed heavily with 2 ground balls and a caused turnover.

In the Cage: Arianna Reed and Marion Wheeler faced a combined 20 shots on goal, making 11 critical saves to keep the Golden Eagles in the fight until the final horn.

Transition Game: Brockport remained highly efficient in the clearing game, successful on 16 of 18 attempts (89%).

Up Next: The Golden Eagles will return to A. Huntley Parker Jr. Field on Wednesday, March 4th. Faceoff is set to begin at 4 p.m. against the University of Rochester.
