SPARKS, MD – The SUNY Brockport men's lacrosse team officially kicks off its spring break trip this Tuesday, March 17th, with a matchup against Ithaca College. The contest will take place at USA Lacrosse Headquarters in Sparks, Maryland, with faceoff scheduled for 12 p.m.
Last Time Out
The Golden Eagles return to action following a gritty performance against No. 20 Clarkson University last Saturday. Despite the 12-6 final, Brockport proved they could compete with the nation's best, holding the Golden Knights to their second-lowest scoring output of the season.
The Green and Gold offense found success early, entering the second quarter tied at 3-3 thanks to goals from
Daniel Wright,
Marc Zappulla, and
Austin Thornhill. Wright ultimately led the charge with a hat trick, while
Michael Dowden added a goal to the tally. Between the pipes,
Jared Kulik racked up 18 saves in a full 60-minute performance to keep the Golden Eagles within striking distance throughout the afternoon.
Scouting the Bombers
Ithaca enters Tuesday's matchup on a hot streak. After dropping their first two contests of the year, the Bombers (4-2) have picked up four consecutive victories. Most recently, they secured a 10-6 win over Ohio Northern University right at the USA Lacrosse Headquarters.
Historically, this is a fresh rivalry for both programs. The two teams have only met once before in a matchup that took place last season. Having faced each other for the first time just a year ago, Brockport will look to even the all-time series and disrupt Ithaca's current momentum.
Up Next: Following the trip to Maryland, the Golden Eagles will turn their attention toward conference play. Brockport will remain on the road to open Empire 8 action against Hartwick on Saturday, March 28th, at 3 p.m.
