Women’s Lacrosse Grabs Road Win at Oswego, Extends Win Streak to Three

OSWEGO, NY – The SUNY Brockport women's lacrosse team (4-3) extended its winning streak to three games and moved above the .500 mark on Wednesday afternoon with a gritty 10-8 road victory over Oswego State. The Golden Eagles used a balanced offensive attack and a strong fourth-quarter surge to secure the road victory.

How It Happened

Brockport jumped out to a fast start, outscoring the Lakers 4-3 in the opening frame. However, Oswego responded in the second period, holding the Golden Eagles to two goals while netting four of their own to take a 7-6 lead into the halftime break.

After a defensive battle in the third quarter resulted in no goals for either side, the Golden Eagles found their rhythm in the final 15 minutes. Brockport's offense exploded for four goals while the defensive unit held Oswego to just one tally in the final frame to seal the comeback victory. The win was bolstered by a critical draw control advantage, with the Golden Eagles winning 12 of 21 draws throughout the contest.

Inside the Box Score

Hailey Lewkovich and Karaline McCarthy led the scoring effort with three goals apiece. Emily Schiffer added two goals, while Amanda Evans and Alivia Cross each found the back of the net once. Kaeli McCarthy and Karaline McCarthy also contributed an assist each in the win.

Arianna Reed earned the win in goal, seeing 52 minutes of action. Reed anchored a defensive unit that limited Oswego to just one goal in the entire second half, making several key saves down the stretch to preserve the lead. She also contributed a team-high three ground balls.

Christina Ross was a force in the midfield, leading the team with six draw controls and adding two ground balls. Her ability to secure possessions proved vital during the fourth-quarter rally. Kaeli McCarthy also played a major role in the transition game, recording four draw controls.
