Ladybros Open Conference Play With 13-4 Win Over Hartwick

Brockport, N.Y. – The Brockport Women's Lacrosse team dominantly celebrated Girls Youth Lacrosse Day, earning a 13–4 victory over the Hartwick Hawks on its home field. The Golden Eagles open conference play at 1–0 and improve to 5–3 overall this season.

Brockport came out strong in the opening quarter, as Hailey Lewkovich scored two unanswered goals, with assists from Tristan Davis and Alivia Cross. Capitalizing on a man-up opportunity and a free-position attempt, Karaline McCarthy fought through the defense to add a third goal. Hartwick responded late in the quarter, finding the back of the net twice to cut the deficit to one.

The Hawks opened the second quarter by tying the game at 3–3 before Brockport regained control with five consecutive goals. Lewkovich started the run with a free-position score, followed by a goal from Amanda Evans off an assist from Lewkovich. Lewkovich then closed the half with three more goals, assisted by Davis and Emily Schiffer, giving Brockport an 8–3 lead at the break.

The Golden Eagles maintained their momentum in the third quarter. Ciara Pogue struck first off an assist from Cross, and Lewkovich followed with another goal, again set up by Cross. McCarthy added her second goal of the game on a free-position shot to extend the lead.

Hartwick opened the fourth quarter with a goal in an attempt to spark a comeback, but Brockport's offense remained steady. Davis and Evans each converted free-position opportunities late in the game to seal the 13–4 victory.

Lewkovich delivered a standout performance, tying for the second-most goals in a single game in program history with seven, while adding one assist for a total of eight points. McCarthy and Evans each finished with two goals, while Davis contributed one goal and two assists for three points.

In goal, Arianna Reed earned the win for Brockport, recording nine saves while facing 16 shots.

The Golden Eagles return to action next week with a pair of conference road matchups. Brockport will travel to face SUNY Geneseo on Wednesday, April 1, at 4 p.m., followed by a game at SUNY Poly on Saturday, April 4, at 12 p.m.
