Men’s Lacrosse Opens Empire 8 Play at Hartwick

Brockport, N.Y. – The SUNY Brockport men's lacrosse team (0-7, 0-0 E8) turns its attention to Empire 8 competition as it looks to reset and begin conference play. The Golden Eagles will travel to face Hartwick College on Saturday, March 28, at 3 p.m., with both teams seeking their first win of the 2026 season.

Last Time Out
Brockport concluded a challenging non-conference schedule on Tuesday with a 14-2 loss to Ithaca College at the USA Lacrosse Headquarters. Despite facing a high-powered offense, the Golden Eagles' defense showed resilience throughout the middle periods, highlighted by a 13-save performance from Jared Kulik.

Hunter Riehlman and Daniel Wright accounted for Brockport's two goals, while Matthew Cook and Daniel Stiles combined to force four turnovers on the defensive end. The team also delivered a perfect 4-for-4 clearing effort in the final quarter, providing a positive note heading into conference play.

Golden Eagle Leaders
As Empire 8 action begins, several players have emerged as key contributors:

Jared Kulik has been a standout in goal, nearly tripling his minutes from last season. He leads the Empire 8 with the highest single-game save total (30 vs. No. 16 Cortland) and owns the fifth-highest mark with 21 saves against Oneonta. Kulik ranks second in the conference with 18 saves per game and has helped Brockport post the second-best save percentage in the E8 at 56.7%.

Daniel Wright has paced the offense, leading the team with nine goals and 13 total points while maintaining an efficient 64.3% shot-on-goal percentage.

Patrick Donahoe has made a significant impact in transition, leading the team with 14 ground balls and four caused turnovers.

Austin Thornhill has anchored the defense, recording a team-high eight caused turnovers while adding 12 ground balls.

Scouting the Hawks
Hartwick (0-7, 0-1 E8) enters Saturday's matchup also in search of its first victory, following an 11-6 loss to Geneseo in its conference opener.

The Hawks hold a 2-0 advantage in the all-time series against Brockport. The most recent meeting came in last season's Empire 8 Tournament, where Brockport fell just short in a 12-11 opening-round loss. With both teams entering at 0-7, Saturday's game presents a critical opportunity to gain momentum early in conference play.

Up Next
Following the road contest, Brockport returns home to A. Huntley Parker Jr. Field to continue Empire 8 action. The Golden Eagles will host Geneseo on Wednesday, April 1, with the opening face-off scheduled for 4 p.m.
