BROCKPORT, NY – The Brockport men's and women's indoor track and field teams wrapped up day two of the regional championships in New York with a series of strong performances across multiple events. Multiple Golden Eagles rewrote the program record book.
Men's Team
Ayden Grinion recorded a top-10 finish in the 400-meter dash, placing eighth overall with a time of 48.94 seconds.
Owen Arbocus delivered an impressive performance in the 800 meters, crossing the line in 1:53.58 to secure fifth place overall.
In the 200-meter sprint, Derek Grimshaw earned a 10th-place finish with a time of 22.14 seconds.
Howie Vargas competed in the 3000-meter run, finishing 14th with a time of 8:45.14.
Brockport's 4x200-meter relay team of Derek Grimshaw, Michael Durski, Malakye Moss, and Ayden Grinion captured a third-place finish with a time of 1:29.58.
In the field events, Dennis Bobbitt placed 10th in the triple jump with a mark of 13.91 meters, while Hunter Richards recorded a throw of 15.69 meters in the weight throw to finish 19th.
Gabriel Giannini highlighted the weekend for Brockport, claiming the men's heptathlon championship with a score of 5126. Giannini currently holds the school record and ranks second in the nation.
Over the two-day competition, Giannini delivered a dominant all-around performance. He placed first in the 60-meter dash (7.09), first in the long jump (7.19m), third in the shot put (11.65m), fourth in the high jump (1.78m), sixth in the 60-meter hurdles (9.07), first in the pole vault (4.70m), and seventh in the 1000 meters with a time of 2:59.22.
Women's Team
Ethne Degan delivered a standout performance in the mile, setting a new school record with a time of 5:01.86. She ran a converted 4:57.82 on the banked track to earn a third-place finish.
Maeve Robarge competed in the 800 meters, finishing in 2:20.81 to place 24th overall.
In the triple jump, Abby Zeh placed 11th with a mark of 11.02 meters.

Brockport now turns its attention to the NCAA Division III Indoor Championships, scheduled for Friday, March 13, and Saturday, March 14 at 10 a.m. at the Birmingham CrossPlex in Alabama.
