Women's Lacrosse Celebrates Senior Day Victory Over Utica

BROCKPORT, N.Y. — The Brockport Women's Lacrosse team secured a hard-fought 9-4 victory over Utica on Senior Day, improving to 8-4 overall and 4-1 in Empire 8 play.

Before the contest, the Golden Eagles honored seniors Amanda Evans, Journey Naab, and Arianna Reed in recognition of their dedication and contributions to the program.

The opening quarter featured a back-and-forth battle, as Karaline McCarthy put Brockport on the board with an unassisted goal. Utica responded quickly with two consecutive scores to take the lead, but Naab converted on a free-position opportunity with 50 seconds remaining to even the score.

Naab carried that momentum into the second quarter, scoring the opening goal off an assist from McCarthy. Ciara Pogue followed with another tally to give Brockport a two-goal advantage heading into halftime.

McCarthy opened the second half with a man-up goal, assisted by Lewkovich, extending the Golden Eagles' lead. Utica answered with a free-position goal to cut the deficit to two. Emily Schiffer responded off a feed from Alivia Cross, while Utica added another goal shortly after. Lewkovich continued to pace the offense, scoring late in the third quarter to give Brockport a 7-4 lead entering the final period.

In the fourth quarter, Lewkovich added an unassisted goal before assisting on a man-up score by Evans to seal the 9-4 Senior Day victory.

Lewkovich led all players with four points on two goals and two assists. McCarthy totaled three points with two goals and one assist, while Naab added two goals. Schiffer, Pogue, and Evans each scored once, and Cross recorded an assist.

Defensively, Arianna Reed anchored the effort in goal, making eight saves to earn the win.

Brockport returns to action on the road next week, traveling to St. John Fisher on Wednesday, April 15, at 4 p.m., followed by a matchup at Russell Sage on Friday, April 17, at 3 p.m.
