Men’s Lacrosse Falls to Penn College in Non-Conference Clash

BROCKPORT, N.Y. — The SUNY Brockport men's lacrosse team (2-12) hosted Penn College (11-4) in a high-scoring non-conference contest Friday afternoon. Despite a late offensive surge and multiple multi-goal performances, the Golden Eagles were unable to overcome the Wildcats' early momentum, falling 19-11.

How It Happened

Penn College established control early, outscoring Brockport 7-4 in the opening quarter. The Golden Eagles remained within striking distance in the first period, aided by a flawless 6-for-6 clearing effort that sustained offensive pressure. However, the Wildcats broke the game open in the second quarter, netting six goals to extend their advantage to 13-5 at halftime.

The pace slowed in the third quarter as both teams emphasized defensive execution and transition play. Brockport's clearing unit continued to perform efficiently, finishing 21-of-26 on the day to consistently advance the ball out of its defensive end. The Golden Eagles also competed effectively in the ground ball battle, edging Penn College 34-33. Brockport tallied two goals in the period, but the Wildcats matched the output to maintain an eight-goal lead.

Brockport found its rhythm in the fourth quarter, posting its most productive frame with four goals. Patrick Donahoe ignited the late push, scoring at the 4:12 mark to cut into the deficit. The Golden Eagles remained aggressive offensively throughout the contest, outshooting Penn College 43-35, and closed the game strong by taking the final quarter 4-3.
