Women's Lacrosse Secures Dominant Win Over Nazareth

Brockport, NY – The Brockport women's lacrosse team opened the final week of Empire 8 play in commanding fashion, earning a 12–4 victory over Nazareth at home. With the win, Brockport improves to 10-5 overall and 6-2 in conference play.

The Golden Eagles set the tone early, scoring three consecutive goals in the opening quarter. Karaline McCarthy got Brockport on the board, tallying two goals off assists from Hailey Lewkovich and Ciara Pogue. Pogue then added a goal of her own, finishing a pass from McCarthy to extend the lead. Nazareth responded with a pair of goals to narrow the margin, but Amanda Evans converted a free-position opportunity to halt the momentum. The Golden Flyers added another score late in the quarter before McCarthy closed the period with her third goal, giving Brockport a 5-2 advantage.

Brockport controlled the second quarter, outscoring Nazareth 3-0. Lewkovich opened the run with an unassisted goal, followed by another unassisted tally from Tristan Davis. McCarthy capped the half with a free-position goal, sending the Golden Eagles into the break with an 8-2 lead.

Nazareth attempted to build momentum early in the third quarter with a man-up opportunity, but McCarthy answered with another free-position goal to stop the rally. Davis later added her second goal of the game, pushing Brockport's total into double digits.

In the final quarter, Nazareth converted a free-position chance for its final goal of the contest. Brockport responded with two more scores, as Lewkovich found the back of the net off a feed from Pogue, and McCarthy added her sixth goal of the game on a free-position shot to seal the 12-4 victory.

McCarthy led all players with seven points on six goals and one assist. Lewkovich recorded three points (two goals, one assist), while Pogue also totaled three points (one goal, two assists). Davis contributed two goals, and Evans added one.

In goal, Arianna Reed made six saves for Brockport, while Marion Wheeler recorded one save in relief and earned the individual win.

Brockport will close out the regular season on the road at Keuka College on Saturday, April 25, with a 12 p.m. start.
