Women's Lacrosse Hosts No. 6 Nazareth in E8 Quarterfinals

Brockport, NY – The No. 3 Brockport Golden Eagles women's lacrosse will host No. 6 Nazareth Golden Flyers women's lacrosse in the opening round of the Empire 8 Women's Lacrosse Championship on Tuesday, April 28, at 4 p.m.

Brockport enters postseason play with momentum, closing out the regular season at 11-5 overall and 7-2 in Empire 8 competition following a perfect 2-0 week.

Team Leaders

The Golden Eagles produced an impressive offensive campaign, totaling 173 goals and 73 assists. Hailey Lewkovich led the team in both points (60) and goals (47), while adding 13 assists. Karaline McCarthy followed closely with 32 goals and a team-high 17 assists for 49 points.

Additional contributions came from Amanda Evans (17 goals, six assists), Emily Schiffer (16 goals, 11 assists), and Tristan Davis (15 goals, nine assists), giving Brockport a balanced and consistent attack.

Defensive Presence

Defensively, Brockport has been equally strong. Christina Ross controlled the draw with 48 wins while adding 14 caused turnovers and 15 ground balls. Kaeli McCarthy recorded 24 ground balls and caused 16 turnovers, while Journey Naabadded 17 ground balls and 17 caused turnovers, anchoring a disciplined defensive unit.

2025 Empire 8 Playoffs

In the opening round of last year's Empire 8 postseason tournament, the Golden Eagles advanced to the semifinals with a 16-2 victory at home against No. 6 seed Utica Pioneers women's lacrosse. Brockport has secured a home playoff win in every season since 2020 and enters this postseason with an impressive 7-1 record on home turf.

In the Cage

In goal, Arianna Reed logged 677 minutes, making 92 saves for a .508 save percentage while posting a 7-4 record. Marion Wheeler provided additional depth, recording 25 saves over 260 minutes with a 4-1 record.

Scouting Nazareth

Nazareth enters the tournament with a 4-13 overall record and a 4-5 mark in conference play. The Golden Eagles and Golden Flyers met last Wednesday, with Brockport earning a decisive 12-4 victory.

What's at Stake

A win on Tuesday would send Brockport to the Empire 8 semifinals on Thursday, April 30, as the Golden Eagles look to continue their strong season and make a deep postseason run.
