Women's Lacrosse Secures Empire 8 Quarterfinal Victory over Nazareth

Brockport, N.Y. — The Brockport women's lacrosse team advanced to the semifinal round of the Empire 8 Championships with a 13-5 victory over Nazareth on home turf. The Golden Eagles have secured a first-round playoff victory in each season since 2020.

Brockport wasted no time establishing control, striking less than a minute into the contest as Ciara Pogue found the back of the net off an assist from Hailey Lewkovich. Tristan Davis followed with a quick goal, assisted by Amanda Evans, to double the lead. Lewkovich added to the early surge with a goal of her own, courtesy of Emily Schiffer. Nazareth answered late in the opening quarter to get on the board.

The Golden Flyers carried momentum into the second quarter, opening with an early score. Brockport responded with three consecutive goals, beginning with Schiffer. Lewkovich added an unassisted tally, and Evans converted off a pass from Davis to extend the advantage. Nazareth briefly halted the run with a free-position goal, but Alivia Cross answered in kind with a free-position score of her own. Lewkovich closed the half with another goal, sending Brockport into the break with an 8-3 lead.

The Golden Eagles controlled the third quarter, holding Nazareth scoreless while Cross netted a pair of goals to extend the margin.

Nazareth attempted to mount a comeback in the fourth quarter, but Brockport's offense remained in command. Journey Naab converted a free-position opportunity, and Evans added two more goals, including one assisted by Davis, to cap the scoring for the Green and Gold. Nazareth added a late goal in the final seconds to bring the contest to its 13-5 final.

Lewkovich and Evans led the offensive effort with four points apiece, each totaling three goals and one assist. Cross contributed three goals, while Davis recorded one goal and two assists for three points. Schiffer added one goal and one assist, and Pogue and Naab each finished with a goal.

Arianna Reed anchored the defense in goal, making three saves on the day.
