Brockport, N.Y. — The Brockport flag football team punctuated a historic inaugural campaign with a commanding 40–0 Senior Day shutout of Daemen University on Friday, May 1. The inaugural Empire 8 Champions conclude their first season with a 9–4 overall record and a 6–2 mark in conference play, establishing a strong foundation in their debut year of competition.
Before kickoff, Brockport honored its inaugural senior class along with student assistants Caleb Chaffee and Chelsey Paul.
The Golden Eagles' defense ignited the scoring early, as Megan Gerber returned an interception 45 yards for a touchdown. Gerber added the one-point conversion to give Brockport a 7–0 advantage.
Brockport doubled its lead on its second possession when Madison Beardsley connected with Caitlin Haugh for a 17-yard touchdown pass. Beardsley followed with a successful one-point conversion run, extending the lead to 14–0.
A Cymbri Jefferson interception set up another Brockport score, with Beardsley adding an 11-yard rushing touchdown to push the margin to 21–0. The All-Conference freshman continued her standout performance on the ensuing drive, breaking free for another rushing touchdown as Brockport surged to a 28–0 lead in the second quarter. Beardsley accounted for four total touchdowns in the first half, delivering one of her most impressive performances of the season.
In the third quarter, Brockport capped its offensive showcase as Lauren Cundra recorded her first passing touchdown, finding Trelani Harper for a 27-yard score.
Defensively, Brockport remained dominant throughout the contest. Catherine Kelly and Anna Pierce each recorded four tackles, while Ava Seelbach and Sienna Peraza (two tackles) also contributed multiple stops. Jaianna Byrd (two tackles) and Jazmyn Rollinger-Norrod each tallied two pass breakups.
Cymbri Jefferson anchored the defensive effort with seven flag pulls, while also adding a sack and an interception in a standout all-around performance.
Offensively, Ava Pytlik led all receivers with four receptions for 64 yards, highlighted by a 29-yard catch. Trelani Harper added three receptions for 52 yards, including her touchdown grab.
Friday's victory closes the chapter on a landmark inaugural season for the Golden Eagles, who finish the year with momentum and a strong outlook for the future.
