BROCKPORT, N.Y. — The Brockport field hockey offense put on a clinic on Saturday, firing home five first-half goals to secure a decisive 7-3 Senior Day victory over Lycoming College at Dr. Linda Arena Field. Before the opening whistle, Brockport honored its two graduating seniors,
Sophia Jones and
Autumn Kramer, who both earned the start for the Green and Gold. With the win, the Golden Eagles improve to 3-1 on the season.
Brockport set the tone immediately, storming out to a four-goal barrage in the opening period.
Emily Nestor got the party started just 1:04 into the match, slotting home an unassisted tally for the early lead. Four minutes later,
Clare Devine doubled the edge off an assist from
Laela Osinski at the 5:01 mark. Brockport kept its foot on the gas as
Makenna Hart finished a pass from
Terralyn McLaughlin at 6:06, and
Elise Brady buried an unassisted goal at 11:34 to extend the advantage to 4-0 after 15 minutes of play.
The Green and Gold carried that momentum straight into the second quarter.
Penelope Schalck found the back of the cage unassisted at 15:38 to make it 5-0. Lycoming broke through at 22:35 on a goal from Lacy Eckard, but Brockport answered right back after halftime. Schalck struck again off another feed from Osinski at 30:36, and Brady added her second goal of the day off an assist from Hart at 35:21 to push the score to 7-1.
Lycoming added goals from Abie Niedermyer and Ava Daly in the second half, but Brockport's defensive unit slammed the door to seal the victory.
Goalkeeper
Lauren Mastromarco earned the win in the cage, making four saves across the first 32 minutes of action.
Julia Nieboer came on in relief, turning away eight shots over the final 27 minutes. Defender
Carleigh Colvin added a defensive save in the fourth quarter to help anchor the defense.
Brockport put 14 total shots on goal and generated five penalty corners.
Penelope Schalck (2G) and
Elise Brady (2G) led the offensive unit with two goals apiece, while Osinski tallied a team-high two assists.
