Field Hockey Secures 2-0 Shutout at Oswego

OSWEGO, NY — The Brockport field hockey team put together a dominant defensive performance on Tuesday afternoon, pitching a 2-0 shutout against Oswego State on the road. Powered by a pair of second-quarter goals, the Golden Eagles controlled the tempo from start to finish to improve to 4-1 overall.

Brockport's attack set the tone early in the match, relentless in the opening 15 minutes as they outshot the Lakers 9-0. Despite generating three penalty corners and multiple quality attempts on cage, Oswego goalkeeper Sam Krautheim turned away two early shots to keep the match scoreless heading into the second period.

The Golden Eagles broke through just under three minutes into the second frame. Laela Osinski beat Krautheim at the 17:36 mark for her unassisted strike to give Brockport a 1-0 lead.  Continuing to pressure the Oswego backline, Brockport doubled its cushion right before halftime. At 29:18, Penelope Schalck delivered a pass to Elise Brady, who buried the opportunity to put the Green and Gold ahead 2-0 going into the intermission.

Oswego pushed to make a game of it in the third quarter, earning three penalty corners and putting five shots toward the frame. However, the Golden Eagles' defensive core held firm. Goalkeeper Lauren Mastromarco anchored the effort with two total saves across 60 full minutes in cage to lock down the clean sheet.

In total, Brockport controlled the offensive stat sheet, outshooting Oswego 21-6 and putting 10 shots on goal.

Up Next: The Green and Gold return to Dr. Linda Arena Field on Friday, September 18th, as they host Oneonta for the Alumni Appreciation game. Action is set to begin at 5 p.m.
