Brockport, NY — The Brockport women's tennis team fell to SUNY Geneseo, 6-0, this afternoon in an Empire 8 matchup. The Golden Eagles move to 4-5 overall on the season, while the Knights improve to 10-0.
Geneseo opened the match by taking all three doubles matches to secure the doubles point. Cara Vasile and Leah Banes fell at No. 1 doubles, 6-3, while Samantha Basovsky and Mackenzie King dropped their No. 2 doubles match, 6-0. Gianna Masker and Kathleen Rogers put up the closest fight at No. 3 doubles, falling 7-5.
The Knights continued their strong play in singles, earning victories at five completed positions. Vasile fell to Natalie Pipes at No. 1 singles, 6-3, 6-1, while Banes dropped her No. 2 singles match to Samantha Rava, 6-2, 6-1. Basovsky, Masker and Tabor also fell in straight sets at Nos. 4, 5 and 6 singles, respectively. At No. 3 singles, Mackenzie King battled Rachel Molloy through one set before the match was left unfinished with Molloy leading 6-5.
