Golden Eagles Shut Out Allegheny, 3-0

HUNTINGDON, PA — The Brockport field hockey team used a powerhouse first half to shut out Allegheny College 3-0 on Saturday afternoon at Knox Stadium. Scoring three early goals and putting together a stellar defensive display, the Golden Eagles improve to 2-0 on the young season.

Brockport set the pace right out of the gate, earning an early penalty corner and pressuring the Gators' backline. Emily Nestor opened the scoring just 3:02 into the first period, unassisted, to give the Green and Gold a 1-0 advantage.

The Golden Eagles turned up the heat late in the second quarter, striking twice in under a minute to break the game open. At the 24:40 mark, Penelope Schalck found the back of the cage off a penalty corner insertion from Laela Osinski to double the lead. Just 31 seconds later, Terralyn McLaughlin finished off a setup from Elise Brady and Nestor at 25:11, sending Brockport into the break with a commanding 3-0 lead.

Brockport controlled the tempo through the second half, generating 22 total shots and earning 11 penalty corners to keep Allegheny on defense.

The Golden Eagles maintained a clean sheet in the cage through a joint defensive effort. Starting goalkeeper Lauren Mastromarco played the first 45 minutes, turning away all five shots on goal she faced. Julia Nieboer took over in the fourth quarter, making one save to preserve the 3-0 shutout.

Up Next: Brockport will close out its weekend in Huntingdon, PA, with a matchup against host Juniata College on Sunday, September 6th, at 12 p.m.
