Brockport, NY - The Brockport women's soccer team earned a dominant 3-0 victory at John Carroll on Saturday, September 5th. Powered by a hat trick from
Amelia Breton and a shutout from
Emily McCane, the Golden Eagles scored to a 2-0 start to the season.
Just 2:35 into the match, Breton found the back of the net, giving Brockport an early lead and setting the tone for what would become a dominant 3-0 victory over John Carroll.
With McKenna Slate providing the assist, the Golden Eagles struck early and never let up. Brockport continued to pressure the John Carroll defense, and Breton doubled the advantage in the 24th minute after Brianna Marino set her up for her second goal of the night.
Holding a 2-0 lead, Brockport controlled the pace and kept John Carroll searching for answers. On the other end, goalkeeper Emily McCane stood strong, turning aside all three shots she faced to preserve the shutout.
Then, with just minutes remaining, Breton put the finishing touch on a spectacular night.
In the 88th minute, she completed her hat trick, sending Brockport to a convincing 3-0 victory and capping a three-goal performance that powered the Golden Eagles from start to finish.
Breton led Brockport with eight shots, putting five on target. The Golden Eagles finished with 13 total shots and nine shots on goal, while Slate and Marino each contributed an assist.
McCane played all 90 minutes in goal and recorded three saves to secure the shutout.
From an early strike to a late exclamation point, Brockport controlled the match from beginning to end, with Breton's hat trick providing the perfect finishing touch.
