CANTON, NY — The SUNY Brockport volleyball team kicked off the 2026 campaign in dominant fashion, securing a pair of 3-0 victories over SUNY Cobleskill and St. Lawrence University at the North Country Classic. With the back-to-back sweeps on opening day, the Golden Eagles jump to 2-0 overall on the season.
Match 1: Brockport 3, SUNY Cobleskill 0
Brockport set the tone early in their season opener, overpowering the Fighting Tigers 25-8 in the opening frame before taking sets two and three 25-19 and 25-14.
The Golden Eagles operated an efficient, high-powered offense, attacking at a .302 clip behind 37 total kills. Setter
Kaitlyn Jewett orchestrated the floor, running the offense with 17 assists while staying highly efficient at the net with three kills on four attempts (.750 hitting percentage) and serving up a game-high eight service aces.
Anna Kurtzhalts paced the attack on the outside, putting down a team-high eight kills, while
Kaylee Dickerson-Holly added seven kills on 17 swings (.294 percentage).
Lauren Emke and
Ellie Cusmano chimed in with four kills apiece, with Emke contributing two solo blocks to anchor the defense at the net. At the service line, the Golden Eagles racked up 14 total aces to keep Cobleskill out of system throughout the match.
Match 2: Brockport 3, St. Lawrence 0
The Golden Eagles kept the momentum rolling in the nightcap against host St. Lawrence,
battling through three tight sets to complete the double sweep (25-20, 25-21, 25-23). Brockport's back-row defense proved to be the difference maker, tallying 69 total digs to keep rallies alive.

Elsie Logan led the backline effort with a match-high 18 digs, ensuring the Saints could not find the floor.
On the attack,
Maddy Howell led the charge with a game-high 10 kills and two blocks, while
Madisen Jones followed closely with nine kills.
Ellie Cusmano recorded eight kills on 41 attacks along with seven digs, and
Ana Parella efficient on the right side, hitting .353 with seven kills and two aces.
Jewett anchored the 6-2 rotation once again with 20 assists and 12 digs to notch a double-double, complemented by
Ava Baty's nine assists.
