POTSDAM, NY — The SUNY Brockport volleyball team wrapped up play at the Potsdam tri-match on Saturday, dropping a pair of decisions to Middlebury College and host Clarkson University. With the setback, the Golden Eagles moves to 2-2 overall on the young season.
Match 1: Middlebury 3, Brockport 0
Brockport battled hard against a strong Middlebury squad in the opening match of the day, ultimately falling in straight sets (18-25, 12-25, 21-25).
Anna Kurtzhalts led the attack for the Green and Gold, racking up a team-high eight kills alongside four digs.
Luba Butcher came off the bench to provide a major spark at the net, efficient on six kills with a .333 hitting percentage while adding three block assists.
Madisen Jones added four kills to the offense. Setters

Ava Baty directed the floor, dishing out 14 and eight assists, respectively. Libero
Elsie Logan anchored the back-row defense, turning in 17 digs to keep rallies alive throughout the match.
Match 2: Clarkson 3, Brockport 0
The Golden Eagles looked to respond against host Clarkson in the final match of the weekend, showing plenty of fight down the stretch in a 3-0 decision (12-25, 19-25, 23-25). Brockport saved its best energy for the third frame, locking into five tie scores and trading the lead three times before the Golden Knights edged out the set.
Ellie Cusmano and
Maddy Howell paced the Green and Gold attack with five kills apiece, with Cusmano adding five digs and two block assists and Howell contributing two blocks at the net.
Olivia Stephenson hit an efficient .375 with four kills in two sets of action, while Kurtzhalts chipped in three kills. Logan was standard on defense, digging out a game-high 22 attacks on the backline. Jewett and Baty shared setting duties once more, recording 12 and nine assists.
Up Next: The Green and Gold return to Brockport to host Hilbert College, Grove City College, and St. Lawrence University at the Jim & John Vlogianitis Gymnasium for the Brockport Invitational on September 11th and 12th.
