Senior Taylor Wierzba (Hamburg, NY/Hamburg) helped lead the Brockport women’s gymnastics team to its' first ever National Collegiate Gymnastics Association (NCGA) National Championship over the weekend. Wierzba has been named The College at Brockport Female Athlete of the Week for her efforts.

On Friday, Wierzba helped the Golden Eagles in winning the national title with strong performances on the balance beam and the floor. Wierzba posted a 9.525 on the beam as the Golden Eagles scored a top-mark of 47.900 overall. On the floor, the senior posted a 9.575 and Brockport finished with a 46.875 overall.

On day two of the event, Wierzba captured the individual national title on the floor exercise by scoring a 9.725 to win All-American honors. Wierzba also earned All-American status on the uneven bars to finish in eighth place with a score of 9.425.

The Golden Eagles finished with a final score of 188.050 to tie with University of Wisconsin-Whitewater to be crowned 2012 National Champions.
