After a solid defensive effort in a 41-17 victory over The College of New Jersey on Saturday, Anthony Bianchi (Rochester, NY/Aquinas Institute) of the Brockport football team has been named The College at Brockport Male Athlete of the Week.

Bianchi anchored the defense to its third straight dominating performance, totaling 14 tackles on the day as the Golden Eagles improved to 3-0 on the year. Bianchi assisted on a tackle for a loss as well. Bianchi is currently second on the Brockport roster with 22 total tackles this season.

TCNJ entered the matchup against Brockport ranked eighth in the NCAA in total offense with 521 yards per game. Bianchi and the entire defense held the Lions to just 359 yards of total offense. As a defensive back, Bianchi is part of a defense that has allowed just one passing touchdown on the year and only five touchdowns total.

The Golden Eagles jumped to No. 17 in the latest national rankings after the victory. It is Brockport’s best start since the 2003 when that team started off 6-0. Brockport takes on Kean University next weekend. The Golden Eagles defeated Kean last year when the Cougars were ranked No. 10 in the country.
