Senior Vanessa Gillette (Fredonia, NY/Fredonia) has been named The College at Brockport Female Athlete of the Week for the week ending on September 1. Gillette scored two goals and had two assists on the final day of the Colonial Classic Tournament at Wilkes College to help lead The College at Brockport women’s soccer team to its second victory.
Despite falling behind in the first half, Gillette helped the Golden Eagles seal a 4-3 overtime win against Moravian College. Gillette’s first goal of the season tied up the game 1-1 at 24:28. Early in the second half, Gillette added her second goal of the game, once again tying the score. Brockport took the lead at 72:14 as Gillette set up Katie Gildemeyer (Baldwinsville, NY/C.W. Baker) with a great pass. In overtime, Gillette had another beautiful pass to freshman Chelsea Stahl (Brockport, NY/Brockport) who put away the win.
The Golden Eagles return to action on September 6 for their home opener against St. John Fisher. Game time is set for 4:30 pm.
