Junior Sarah Swertfeger (Rochester, NY/Greece Olympia) has been named The College at Brockport Female Athlete of the Week for the week ending March 9. Swertfeger had a strong showing at the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Championships over the weekend.

Swertfeger finished third in the 1-mile run, setting a new school record on Saturday at the New York City Armory with a time of 5:03.5. On Saturday she also participated in the 1000-meter run and finished the course in 3:04.61, placing 17th out of a field of more than 25 of the best runners from colleges of the eastern United States.

On Friday, Swertfeger got the women’s distance medley team off to a great start with the group finishing 10th overall with a time of 12:32.13. Her teammates during the race were Therez Young (Middletown, NY/Minisink Valley), Emily Noonan (Elmira, NY/Elmira Southside) and Elizabeth Merritt (Elmira, NY/Elmira Southside).
