The College at Brockport sophomore Nicole Jones (West Charlton, NY/Galway) captured the shot put championship during Saturday’s State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) championship meet. Jones is Brockport’s Female Athlete of the Week. 

Jones won her first indoor track and field SUNYAC title during the meet, held inside the Bristol Field House on the Hobart College campus in Geneva, NY. Jones’ personal and season-best heave of 12.17 meters (39 feet, 11 1/4 inch) earned her the shot put title, and she was 0.61 meters better than the runner-up.

In the weight throw, Jones placed third with an effort of 14.35 meters (47 feet, 1 inch). Jones was one of eight Brockport athletes to qualify for the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) championship meet. Jones posted ECAC-qualifying efforts in both the shot put and weight throw.
