Brockport, NY – Meaghan Mastro of the women’s volleyball team had a major impact in all three of last week’s games. For her efforts she was named The Mall at Greece Ridge Female Athlete of the Week. Putting the team on her back, she was able to take down Potsdam, Fredonia, and Buffalo State; helping the Golden Eagles to a four game SUNYAC win streak.
Mastro went wild in her game against Potsdam, leading her team with 13 kills. Mastro was the game leader with 13 kills, three blocks, and an ace. In just four sets, she was able to score 16.5 out of the 72 points to help the Golden Eagles earn their second SUNYAC win. Last Friday against Fredonia, Mastro kept delivering the heat with four kills and eight digs. Offensively, Mastro was the backbone contributing to the team’s .200 hitting percentage. Defensively she led the team with three blocks. Brockport ended up taking down Fredonia in three sets. The team then took on Buffalo State where Mastro led the Golden Eagles with 12 out of the 55 points scored. She had eight kills, eight digs, five blocks, and an ace. This all led to a 3-0 win over Buffalo State.
Mastro currently leads the team and ranks 13th in the SUNYAC with 142 kills this season. She leads the team and ranks sixth in the league with 48 blocks. She also ranks in the top 10 in the conference with 194 total points.
Brockport heads on the road to compete against New Paltz and Oneonta this Friday (6 p.m.) and Saturday (1 p.m.).
