Junior Tom Rispoli (East Meadow, NY/East Meadow) who won the 157-pound individual title at the Doug Parker Invitational Tournament at Springfield College over the weekend is The College at Brockport’s Male Athlete of the Week.

Rispoli plowed through the 157-pound bracket with a major decision 20-6 victory over a wrestler from Stevens Institute and then pinned his next opponent in 4:17 to advance to the semifinals. In the semifinal bout, he scored a 7-2 decision over the Coast Guard wrestler and then posted a 7-1 decision over Centenary College’s Owen Vernon to win the title.

Rispoli is off to a great start for Brockport with an 11-4 overall record and a perfect 5-0 mark against Division III competition. He was seventh earlier this season at the Eastern Michigan Open Tournament against primarily Division I wrestlers.

The individual title was one of two on the day for the Golden Eagles, ranked #15 in the country, who won the team championship outscoring three other ranked teams in the tournament including No. 7 ranked Merchant Marine Academy (King’s Point).
