BOXSCORE

The College at Brockport field hockey team suffered its third straight loss, as they lost at New Paltz by a score of 4-0 in a State University of New York Athletic Confererence (SUNYAC) game. With the loss, Brockport drops to 7-7 overall and 2-4 in conference play.

New Paltz grabbed the lead about 14 minutes into the game with a goal by Lauren Link on a penalty stroke. The Hawks held a slim margin in the shot department with five in the first half, compared to four for the Golden Eagles.

In the second stanza, the Hawks out-shot Brockport 17-5. Five minutes into the half, New Paltz doubled its lead when Alyssa Stock scored her fifth goal of the season.

Stock would add another goal later in the game, and Alex Gallo also netted a goal in the second half to give the Hawks a 4-0 victory.

Senior Kelly-Ann Henry (Glen Head, NY/North Shore) led Brockport with three shots, all of which were on goal. Sophomore Gina Stephan (Clarence, NY/Clarence) collected two defensive saves in the contest, pushing her team-leading total to five.

Brockport goaltender Kasey Schreiner (Hamburg, NY/Hamburg) made three saves and allowed three goals in just under 49 minutes of action.  Amanda Del Buono (Sauquoit, NY/ Sauquoit Valley) recorded six saves and allowed one goal in relief of Schreiner.

“Despite a hard-fought effort, we couldn't put the ball in the net,” head coach Andrea Zurlo said.

The Golden Eagles travel to St. John Fisher on Tuesday to face the Cardinals at 4 pm, a team they beat 5-0 on Oct. 5. Brockport hosts Wells College on Wednesday at 4 pm in the last home game of the season.
