Late Goal in Overtime Drops Brockport

Abby Eschen scores twice for the Golden Eagles

Brockport dropped a double overtime decision to Rochester Saturday
BOXSCORE

Freshman Abby Eschen (Cazenovia, NY/Cazenovia) scored two goals  and senior Kelly-Ann Henry (Glen Head, NY/North Shore) added a goal and an assist for The College at Brockport Field Hockey team but a goal with less than a minute to play in the second overtime period by Rochester gave the Yellowjackets a 4-3 victory Saturday evening in Rochester.

Brockport (9-8) scored twice in a span of three minutes in the first half to take a 2-0 lead. Henry had the first goal – her team leading 13th goal of the season – and Eschen added her first of two goals in the game three minutes later to capture the early lead.

Henry's goal moved her into second place on the all-time career goals list as she now has 28 career goals for Brockport.

Rochester (13-6) answered with three goals in the final five minutes of the first half to take a 32 lead into the halftime intermission.

In the second half, Eschen scored her second goal of the game with an assist from Henry to tie the game with less than 20 minutes left in the second half.

The score remained tied and the teams played a scoreless overtime for 29 minutes until Allison Beardsley scored for Rochester on a breakaway to end the game with 57 seconds left in the second overtime period.

"It was an amazing game," said head coach Andrea Zurlo. "That was probably the most exciting game we have been a part of in a long time. It was a complete team effort and I thought we played very well."

Brockport had 15 shots and 12 penalty corners in the game and junior Kasey Schreiner (Hamburg, NY/Hamburg) made 11 saves.
