Kelly-Ann Henry scores three times in the win over St. John Fisher

BOXSCORE

Senior Kelly-Ann Henry (Glen Head, NY/North Shore) scored three goals including two in the first half to lead The College at Brockport Field Hockey team to a convincing 5-0 victory over St. John Fisher College Wednesday afternoon in Brockport.

The Golden Eagles (7-4) saw Henry score twice in the first 35 minutes of the game. The first goal, at the 21:22 mark of the opening half came as a result of a long run up the middle of the field for Henry who dodged two defenders before sending a shot past the St. John Fisher (1-9) goalie.

Henry's second goal came from a short pass close to the Cardinal cage as sophomore Madison Buckley (Liverpool, NY/Liverpool) sent a pass to Henry on the corner of the goal to give Brockport a 2-0 lead.

In the second half, Buckley extended the Brockport lead to 3-0 converting a crossing pass from fellow sophomore Jessica Blind (Webster, NY/Webster Thomas) and then Henry completed her hat trick as she deflected a shot by Danielle Henck (Sauquoit, NY/Sauquoit Valley) into the back of the Fisher goal.

Two minutes later, Henck was on the scoring end of the play as she used a spin-dodge move to get free in front of the goal and sent a shot into the open side of the goal for a 5-0 Brockport lead.

“It was great to see the offense play so well,” said head coach Andrea Zurlo. “Kelly-Ann (Henry) had an awesome hat trick and Danielle (Henck) had a nice goal and an assist. Offensively, we have been coming together over the last week or so and today I think they really meshed together well.”

Brockport held an 18-6 advantage in shots and junior Kasey Schreiner (Hamburg, NY/Hamburg) made one save to record her third shutout of the season.
