Second Half Goal Drops Field Hockey

Kasey Schreiner makes nine saves in the Brockport cage

The Brockport defense allowed just one goal against Oswego

BOXSCORE

Junior Kasey Schreiner (Hamburg, NY/Hamburg) made nine saves for The College at Brockport Field Hockey team but a single second-half goal by Oswego was the difference as the Lakers posted a 1-0 win in a non-conference game Sunday in the consolation game of the Nazareth College Tournament in Rochester.

After a scoreless first half, Oswego (2-3) scored nine minutes into the half for the only goal of the game. Katie Mazuchowski scored for the Lakers.

"It was an evenly played game," said head coach Andrea Zurlo. "It seemed like we just ran out of steam in the second half and we were unable to finish it out."

Oswego held an overall 18-10 advantage on shots but Brockport (2-2) had a 7-3 advantage in penalty corners in the second half.

The Golden Eagles return to action Friday, September 16 hosting Cortland in the first State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) game of the season. Brockport will host a rematch with Oswego at 1 pm Saturday as part of the Homecoming festivities at the College.
