Field Hockey Avenges Earlier Loss To Oswego

Brockport earns first conference win

Jessica Blind scored the game-winning goal in Saturday's 2-1 win over Oswego
BOXSCORE

Sophomores Madison Buckley (Liverpool, NY/Liverpool) and Jessica Blind (Webster, NY/Webster Thomas) tallied goals as The College at Brockport Field Hockey team defeated Oswego 2-1 in Brockport.

Oswego (2-5, 0-2 SUNYAC) out-shot Brockport (3-3, 1-1 SUNYAC) 6-4 in the first half, but the Golden Eagles were the ones to come up with a goal in the stanza. In one of Brockport's 10 corner chances, the ball was passed across the circle by junior Taryn Rossi (Webster, NY/Webster Thomas) to Buckley. The forward tipped the ball past Laker goalie Julie Janusz for her fourth goal of the year and the 1-0 lead.

With just over three minutes remaining in the half, sophomore Gina Stephan (Clarence, NY/Clarence) got in front of an Oswego shot for a defensive save to preserve the lead.

Just over 10 minutes into the second half, the Golden Eagles doubled their lead, as Blind scored her third goal of the season. A corner was shot out to the top of the circle, then passed to the left side of the goal. Buckley, who was credited with the assist, passed to Blind across the goal, and Blind slapped it home for a two-goal lead.

Oswego got on the board with less than four minutes left, as Aislinn Breslin lifted a shot that hit the crossbar and went in. Jess Felice was credited with an assist on the play.

Junior goalkeeper Kasey Schreiner (Hamburg, NY/Hamburg) earned the win in net with six saves. Janusz recorded two saves in the contest.

Brockport looks to pick up their second consecutive conference win on Saturday, Sept. 24, as they travel to face Morrisville State.
